We publish these diagrams because Florida business owners keep having to explain the same rules to their staff, their landlords and their contractors. Locking them up would defeat the point. This page sets out exactly what you may do with them, what the copyright notice is, and how to reach us if you want to do something the license below does not cover.
License terms
The fire safety diagrams and cover card listed below are licensed for reuse with attribution. You may copy, display, print, embed and redistribute them, including for commercial purposes, subject to these conditions:
- Credit us. Attribute the image to Florida Fire Safety Resource Hub.
- Link back. Where the medium allows a hyperlink, link the credit to floridafiresafety.org. In print, the plain text floridafiresafety.org is enough.
- Do not alter the substance. You may resize, crop for layout, and convert file format. You may not change the distances, classes, intervals, figures or labels shown, or remove our name from the image, and then present the result as ours. If you need a modified version, make one and credit it as your own derivative — do not attribute your changes to us.
- Do not imply endorsement. Using a diagram does not mean we endorse your product, service, company or interpretation of the code.
- Do not resell the images themselves. Using them inside a paid course, report or handbook is fine. Selling or sublicensing the image files as stock artwork is not.

All four are our own original work, drawn in-house from the underlying standards. The diagrams are SVG, so they stay sharp at any size — there is no need to ask us for a higher-resolution version.
What this license does not cover
- Our logo and wordmark. The Florida Fire Safety Resource Hub name, badge and logo files are excluded. Do not use them to brand your own material or to suggest an affiliation.
- Photographs and other imagery on this site. Only the files listed in the table above are licensed here. Other photographs may be licensed from third parties and are not ours to grant.
- Third-party marks and standards. NFPA, OSHA, UL and the Florida State Fire Marshal own their own names, marks and published standards. Our diagrams summarize requirements in our own words and artwork; they are not reproductions of any copyrighted standard, and this license grants you nothing in respect of the standards themselves.
- The text of this site. This page licenses images, not articles.
How to request permission or another license
If what you want to do falls outside the terms above — you need to modify a diagram and still attribute it to us, you want to use one without attribution, you want the logo, you need a written license for a procurement or legal file, or you are simply not sure whether your use qualifies — write to us and ask. There is no fee and no form.

Please include: which image or images you want, where they will appear, whether the material is free or paid, and whether you need to modify anything. A short paragraph is plenty. We answer requests in writing so you have something to keep on file.
If you have already used one
If you have published one of our diagrams and only now found this page, and your use fits the terms above, you do not need to do anything except add the credit. You are not in breach for having asked afterwards.
